Demon in my Mind

I raise my glass and see the demon in my mind

I take and sip and hear the demon in my mind

I feel the whiskey rushing through my blood

I hear the words 'have another, one more won't hurt'

I have another drink and see the demon in my mind

I haven't seen my family in years, but the demon in my mind

He is present daily, watching me, coaxing me, pleading with me

To drink, and I do

I listen to him, daily, the demon in my mind

He knows me, knows how I left my family at home

Knows how I never came back, Knows how I don't know them

And I know him, we have an understanding

I rasise my glass and see the demon in my mind

I take a sip and hear the demon in my mind

I forget everything now, and have only the demon in my mind to keep me company.
