This is a poem for a woman that I hold very dear to my heart. She has helped me through bad and worse, and the times in between. She has never left my side and I am grateful for that. All of this I say is true to the T, and if you like, you can read my feelings for her.

Because of her, I've been able to become a better person.

Natalia, you ease me with

Your blasé ways;

How your golden hairs’ fullness

Weakens my soul is an unsolvable mystery

In my eyes.

The red dress which you name your favorite

Has grown accustomed to me also,

Clinging onto your hourglass figure like

A second coat of flesh, flawless yet

The pale skin you possess strikes me

With awe that abolishes all grief

And stress;

Cherry lipstick, snowflake nail polish

As white as your eyes comforts me so.

Before the time your existence was known,

I was ridden with melancholy;

The self-induced anguish was too unbearable

For me to suffer through.

Far too many times have I found myself draping

From the end of the rope’s lethal knot,

Praying for salvation from a life I built on

Self doubt and resentment.

Then…then you came into my life;

I can’t thank you enough, honestly I

You have been so easy to talk to.

You saved me when

God or family refused to listen;

We’ve had conversations that have

Granted me a new perspective on life.

I am free now. Ha! I love being alive;

Let it be known on this day that I have never left

A moment in vain ever since we met.

I still feel like this poem does your generosity injustice;

Please forgive me. They are

The only thoughts my mind was able to muster.

You deserve much better than this poem,

But I’m pretty sure you will say otherwise

And for that, I love you.

Although you are a physical lie,

A ‘figment of my imagination’ as the cliché goes,

I hope that we remain together forever.
