The man stood on the beam over the anchor man's head. The anchor man wasn't talking about anything intersting- yet. The anchor man said the names of the people who were killed by the People of the Shadows. Then, finally, something interesting. The man crossed his arms on a beam and laid his head on his arms.

"A teen girl, Jae Dailey, was attacked by a Person of the Shadows when a strange man killed the Person of the Shadows, saving her. This hero...." The anchor man went on and on about how he was a hero. He thought to himself I'm anything but a hero. He lifted his head off his arms and chuckled darkly to himself. He guessed he was chuckling a little too loudly, because the camera man looked up. But the man was already off the beam and nearly gone.

"If only I saved those other people." He growled. He was now outside the news studio. He started pacing.

"You're only human." A voice came behind him. He knew exactly who it was.

"Uncle Liam, you know what I am." He clenched his fists.

"You're only-"

"Don't say it." He growled again. He punched a dumpster, making a large hole on the side.

"Did that hurt?" Liam asked.

"No. You know it never hurts." He sat down on the curb and put his face in his hands.

"So you want it to hurt?"

He looked up at his uncle. The familiar pepper colored hair. This was his last known alive relative. His uncle had raised him since he was a child. No one knew where his older sister was.

"I never said that."

"No. But it sounded like you wanted it to."

He put his face back in his hands. Life was too comfusing.

After a few minutes of silence, he looked back up.

His uncle was no where to be seen.

"Uncle Liam?" He looked around.

•?•

When he got home, he looked around the house. His uncle was still missing.

"The People of the Shadows." He growled.

He had been trained since he was a young child to kill the People of the Shadows.

And now, the time has come to defeat them once and for all.
