The Furthest star,
Is often the closest.
Near enough to reach out,
Too far to ever touch.
Often it burns twice as bright,
But never fades entirely.
We close our eyes to its glare,
As it warms us from within.
The foundations of many empires,
And the crumble of many hearts.
At times it may be lost,
Only to be a gift from another.
Always the last thing to die,
Though it lives on forever.
We often stare up at the stars,
A world without rules.
But to see the brightest star,
We need first to look down.
