A Special Delivery.

It was not like the Big Man to forget but there was no doubt that was just what he had done. Returning from his delivery extravaganza, Santa saw it sitting there. The teddy bear had an address, the name of the child he was intended to be gifted to. Instead he was sitting in a corner of the grotto, overlooked and forgotten.

Santa stood and scratched his head. This would never do! A child without a present; whatever could he do, because there was no doubt about it, the reindeer were exhausted as was he.

There had to be some answer, some way of making that delivery. And then he had an idea.

The elves had sledges to help them get around in a rush. One of them would do just fine and would be about the right size too. Mrs Claus found a green and red striped hat to give the bear a bit of warmth. He was going to need it.

Santa consulted his compass; he would need to get the direction just right. And then he gave the sledge, with the teddy bear seated on top of it, a great big push.

They were off, gaining speed as they went along, flying over bumps, down hills and up the other side. On and on they went, too fast to be spotted by the human eye, and then with one last giant lift-off the sledge flew through the air to crash into a snow drift, catapulting the teddy straight in to the arms of a tearful gift-less child.

A bell rang in the cabin to say that delivery had been made, and Santa went to sit by the fire and roast his freezing toes.
