Alien-Nation

Why did they do it?

Strand me in a world.

It’s clear that I do not belong

just where I have been hurled.

The language I can understand,

but literal, is all;

jokes that are deprecating

I cannot get at all.

Communication puzzles me,

I don’t know what to say,

better to play no part in it,

and lock myself away.

It’s just like being in a bubble,

walls transparent, very weak;

and when there is a breach in it,

my life becomes so bleak.

Watching and observing,

I’m learning not a lot,

I do not understand why I

was left and then forgot.

A planet that is alien,

always I’ll let my eyes

seek out my true mother-ship,

scanning through the skies.

An outcast and a misfit,

all I can do is watch and wait,

and ponder on the causes

of this alien-nation fate.

Wouldn't it be nice if us outcasts had our own island nation or another planet we could live on? I wish.
Well done, Hully!

Absolutely, Jeff. And I bet we'd all get along much better than most people seem to.

This is a wonderful poem, I saw both a reality side, and a side that could be a story. Loved it!

Thanks, C.A. This was just me writing what I felt like. But now you've said that, I feel the spark of a novel forming for a future book!
