Can You Keep A Secret?

Can you keep a secret?’ Lauren typed onto her laptop. Someone, one of her so-called friends certainly could not. The problem was knowing which one. Fiona, Janice and Sandra had all been told her plans, but only on the understanding that they did not say a word to anybody else. And they had all promised not to say a word.

Lauren was rather shocked then, when she found the news on all of the social media sites she, and they, used.

Heard the news! Lauren Blakely is getting engaged, at last, to Greg Walsh! Break out the champagne!’

She was fuming, at least at first. They’d not wanted to make a big thing of it, had no set ideas on a wedding date. Better not to spread it around too much, right now. But someone had spread it around for them. Her first response was to phone them all, shouting and accusing until one of them coughed up, admitted that they’d posted it – her secret. A few minutes to calm down and she came up with another idea – one that was sure to flush out he guilty culprit.

We’re going for a weekend in Paris!’ Lauren texted to Fiona.

Greg and I had a massive row.’ That was the message that went to Janice.

Now for Sandra, what to tell her? ‘I’m thinking of giving up my job and going solo!’

It was just a matter of waiting to see which one’s fingers did the talking. She’d find out soon enough.
