Cocktail Hour

Don’t look at the clock, please. I can just imagine that disapproving look if you do.

What is it, 9am? Maybe 10? Way too early in the day for sipping these drinks, at least I can see that is just what you are thinking.

By midday this place will be packed with holiday makers. Screaming, laughter from the pool and all around. And let’s not forget the splashes.

I prefer my cocktails without the addition of chlorine, thank you.

So I’ll take my cocktail hour that bit early then retreat but come midnight I might just return for a repeat.

Sometimes I love to write to a specific number of words. I used to belong to a site where you could only post content that was exactly 81 words long.
Thanks for reading, Adam.

This is very good for such a short story, Hully. The second to last line conjured up an amusing image of someone trying to sip a drink amid all the noise and splashing. I wonder who decided what time of day is appropriate for drinking cocktails.

Yeah, even on holidays that early morning tipple is still frowned upon, I imagine. But what other time would you be pretty ensured a bit of peace and quiet to enjoy it.
Thanks so much for giving it a read.
