First Kiss

That blonde ponytail. It was always tied up, but her luscious hair bounced when she walked. She radiated perkiness and happiness, and I loved it.

We sat on the picnic table at triangle park. The yellow lights on the street buzzed and she looked into my eyes.

“I’m scared my mom is going to be looking for me.” she said.

“Me too.” I said.

“I never sneak out.” she said.

“It’s okay.” I started, “You know I’ve liked you for a long time…”

“I’ve liked you for a long time too.” she said, beaming.

I locked eyes with her, and leaned in for the kiss.

She quickly turned her head away, looked around, and said, “Are you sure we won’t get caught?”

“It’s a park!” I said smiling, and scooting closer to her, “Nothing bad happens in parks.”

I then realized that, historically, lot’s of bad things happened in parks… rape… muggings… assassinations… But I didn’t need to worry her with that.

She smiled and closed her eyes. This was it! She was going in for it! Finally my first kiss!

We kissed and held each other close in an abomination of tongues and saliva. I didn’t know what I was doing… I thought this is what kissing was supposed to be…

Our mouths were at war with each other, and since she had braces, there was an artillery attacking my mouth, sending it’s metal spears to attack my lips.

After she obliterated my oral cavity, we awkwardly said goodbye, and left for home.

I called her house later that night, no answer. And again the next night, no answer. She never returned any of my calls, even though I tried for a week.

I guess my mouth lost the war.
