In sympathy and support to all those victim to today's forest fire in Portugal.

Flaming Heat

More bad news, another fire,

yet more lives have been expired;

this time a forest set aflame,

lightning might just be to blame.

Forty degrees, too hot too soon,

for Portugal, it’s only June.

The wind it blew and fanned the flames

so many lives it was to claim.

Sixty dead, the last news said,

most were fleeing when fire sped.

Many laying on the ground,

Trying to escape and too soon found.

The fire blazed through woods thick,

a conflagration, way too quick.

Homes burned down, possessions lost,

a thunder storm has brought such cost.

A disaster brought by nature’s force,

callous, uncaring, in its course.

I know that these disasters happen, but it seems to me that climate change makes them more frequent, and more deadly!

They just spread so fast, Mike, and no one has much of a chance against that. Thanks for reading!

There seems to be so many things going on, Tom, I think a lot of people begin to get immune to it all.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

Thank you, Rehmat. There seem to have been so many tragedies of one kind or another so far this year and there's still more than a quarter of it left.
