Follow The White Rabbit.

What he was doing out there I had no idea. Neither did I know where he had come from.

A white rabbit, from the tips of his ears to the end of his tail! He stood out sharply in a field full of the much more regular brown ones. There was only one thing to do and that was to follow it.

Feeling a bit like Alice, I climbed over the gate, dropped down to the grass then set out across the field. The brown rabbits all took to their feet and fled into hedges, straight down holes; anywhere to get a bit of distance between themselves and me.

Not so this white one, though. Oh, he’d run alright, then pause to let me catch another glimpse of him. He knew I was following him and it seemed like he wanted me to.

Curiouser and curiouser. I could not help wondering if he had perhaps heard the story.

Off I ran, up the field and down the field, over to the left and then to the right. Slipping and sliding, tripping and treading, he led me on a merry dance. Finally I had no choice but to pause and catch my breath. I put my hands on my knees, breathed in, breathed out until my lungs began to work again.

While I paused, he quite simply disappeared. One minute he was there, just a few feet away from me; then in a split-second flash he was gone. Not a sign of him. Not even a single strand of white fur.

I’d imagined the entire thing, I told myself. Thoughts of Wonderland running rampant in my mind had conjured up a white rabbit, just for me to follow. I’d almost convinced myself of that too, but still I stood beside the gate and looked back.

There he was; peering at me from a little dip in the field. The race, the chase, was on again.

I knew that Wonderland wouldn't be far from your mind when I saw the title of this story, Hully. The story is such a delightful romp, and who knows? It might just end up in Wonderland.

Yeah, I wanted to introduce the idea of Wonderland then go with 'not this time'. I wanted it to be a bit crazier than it turned out to be, but...Thanks so much for giving it a read.
