“Darcy, you can answer THIS question.” Mrs. Garth said, knowingly.

Unfortunately, while Mrs. Garth was saying the question, I, Darcy, had missed the entire thing, filling my whole soul with doodling.

I looked inside my history binder, and picked a random name from the unit vocab.

“Hamlet?” I asked, a confused look on my face.

“Incorrect.” said Mrs. Garth “Darcy, if you continue to doodle throughout class I will have to send you to the principles office.”

“Okay, Mrs. Garth.” I said.

She turned to the blackboard and resumed her teaching.

Then I wondered, what would happen if I walked out. Got up out of my seat and ditched. Got some ice cream at the nearby ice-cream stand and waited for someone to come get me. I wondered and wondered, until finally, I did.

I got up out of my seat and walked out the door, I ran through the deserted halls, past the principal’s office, past the library, and out into the wild openness of non school things.

I sat down on the steps and pondered what I should do with my newfound freedom.

YES! I was finally free.
