In Need Of A Rest.
I’ll thank you for digging this very big hole;
I hope you don’t mind me using it.
For I’m really in need of some sort of bed
where I can lay down my tortured head.
I don’t want a coffin that’s built from wood,
for the fact is that I’m still alive,
but I need to just be surrounded by nothing but soil;
insects,
worms,
mold,
roots.
And stones, lots of stones.
Even some rocks will be welcome here.
The earth that you dug up, to lay by the side,
I’ll reach up and grab it, pull it and drag it
and maybe a landslide I’ll cause.
There at my head is a big solid stone.
It’s not likely to ever be moved,
so before I climbed in, using nail varnish
I wrote nice and clearly ‘Here lies such a fool’
for I’m finally going back home.

Sat, September 22nd, 2018 7:25pmA chilling read, Hully. Such desperation and torment is hard to comprehend, so very, very sad!
Sat, September 22nd, 2018 7:42pmThe bouncy whimsy of the rhymes contrasted to the subject of the piece is unsettling. It's well written, but a sad thing to be writing about.
