Mayday

I’m sending out a distress signal. Mayday! Mayday! Someone, anyone come and get me out of here sharp. Pronto! No dithering, if you please.

I want to be away from here, the rest of Europe too. And DO NOT take me to the UK. Following the announcement that Boris Johnson will now be Prime Minister it seems that they have taken one step closer to becoming America of today. Yes, Trump’s America is going to be alive and well and living in London, England.

Brexit had become a never-never, a spectre in the future, the distant future, one that might never come to be. Boris Johnson has stated on many occasions that the UK will leave on Halloween (a portent perhaps) with or without a deal. If he digs his heels in, and Europe collectively does too, I’m going to need some big beach so that I can bury my head really deep in the sand.

Ireland, where I live, is bound to become that much more of a kicking ball. 'To blame! To blame! Get on with it and stop causing a problem!' They’ve been saying that for a while now but I’m thinking that so far has been nothing to the yells that are going to be made in Parliament from tomorrow.

Fact; Ireland had nothing to do with Brexit. It was a UK decision, not an Irish one. The geographical fact is that to the left of Ireland we have the UK, to the left of that lies Europe. Then the top part, the North, is currently going to be leaving Europe too. It’s some kind of logistical nightmare. To the right, the west, we have a great big sea that stretches all the way to the eastern shores of America. It’s looking like this tiny little country is about to be submerged into a nightmare scenario of lose, lose, lose.

So I’m going to carry on sending out signals of my distress. David Cameron, you have a lot to answer for.
