Morning Coffee.

I wake up to the jangling sound

The clock with its alarm

I'm so confused with where I am

Does something mean me harm?

Eventually I wale up

Pull myself out of bed

I might be standing upright

But I've left behind my head.

Coffee is the thing for me

I really need a cup

But I can't find it anywhere

I might as well give up.

There are no boxes in the cupboard

There's none up on the shelf

I need my morning coffee fix

It's essential for my health.

I'll have to try the neighbours

I'll have to go next door

My head is going to have to

Carry out that chore.

Brian opens up his door

'Well, have a cup of tea!'

I frown and then I shake my head

That's just no good for me.

Heather on the other side

Offers a fruit shake

The very idea of which

Makes my stomach quake.

So there's no help, I'm all alone

I'll go out through that door

And force my feet to make their way

To the local store.

And there it is in front of me

So many types to choose

I'll take six boxes, different kinds

How could I refuse!

Then at the counter there it is

A cup to take away

I buy it, sip it, grimace

Then can get on with my day.
