Nemesis -- a person or force that inflicts punishment or revenge.

Nemesis.

It's hard to keep going with
Punishment
And revenge
Always creeping up on you
Never will it end.

There's no escaping this one,
Entrapment
In a cage
I can fight it all I want
If I want a war to wage.

Keep avoiding all those mirrors,
Reflections
Of my mask.
My nemesis is my own self.
Did you need to ask?

Another fine poem, Hully, and I think this would apply to a lot of us!

Yeah, Mike. I think a lot of people are their own worst enemy.

Wonderful, Hully. So true, so very true! Once we realize that our greatest enemies are our own selves, lots of things begin to look differently. This is one of your very best poems!
