Not Many People Know....

Once upon a time, in years past, I used to work at a music venue. My job, basically, was to help the road crew setting up – lots of crawling around on the floor, plugging things in – to be there if there should be a problem with the sound check – more crawling around – to work on the door and to make sure they got paid.

This was a pretty small place as you can no doubt imagine. A lot of the bands were unknown and stayed unknown but there was Judas Priest, Dr Feelgood. Siouxsie And The Banshees and many more that I can’t recall right now.

Anyhow, the point of this is that it gave me the idea of starting my own band. At least I had access to somewhere to practice. I found a few interested people, one to play guitar, one bass and, of course, a drummer. I wrote the songs and did the vocals. We were called Telescopic Exposure and to say we were rubbish was an understatement.

I think I wrote two songs; ‘Ten Green Fingers’ which was about being stuck in an alien world and ‘Mirror Image Distortion’ which speaks for itself. It is nowhere near as easy as it seems and we never played live once. I called it a day when I got fed up with having to pay any and all expenses out of my meagre income.

The point of this – hell, I don’t know. Apart from to say ‘Good On You’ to each and every one who can make it to performing, wherever it is.
