A poem inspired by an Imaginarium House One Word Prompt.

Obsession

It starts off nice and gentle,

A feeling that is sweet

But then it just gets deeper

And sweeps you from your feet.

It digs it’s way down firmly

With the persistence of a mole,

By the time you come to know it

You’re no longer in control.

This idea that has flourished

So firmly in your mind --

Now you can’t get rid of it,

It doesn’t seem so kind.

It takes over every moment

And possesses every thought,

It’s become a real obsession

And you are so surely caught.

It winds its way around your head

Encompasses your brain;

If you don’t get a grip on it

You’ll find yourself insane.

Obsessions can take many forms,

Be sparked by many things,

But once the groundwork’s put in place

It’s misery it brings.

This is the best description for obsession I have ever come across with. Great poem, Hully. And the rhymes... Perfect.
