One Drop
One single,
tiny,
solitary
drop of rain
meanders
down my
window pane.
Slowly
trailing
it’s descent;
to join
a puddle
it is meant.
At the bottom
there’s a drop,
down it goes,
it doesn’t stop.
A bit like
the single,
solitary
tear
that falls from
my eye.
Slowly
travelling,
cheek to
jaw
before it
splatters
to the floor.

This said so much in so few words, Hully. Very poignant and a great piece.
Tue, February 13th, 2018 7:13pmThis is really good! The somewhat choppiness makes the rhyming scheme much more noticeable. The imagery was great, and I really liked the simile at the end.
Tue, February 13th, 2018 7:22pmI must say, this poem started off so lovely. I do enjoy watching the rain streak down a window or watch the shower water trail down the curtain; it's interesting watching the path of a drop of water, as well as see hundreds of them falling in tandem. Water creates lovely spectacles, but it can also create sad ones, as well. I suppose, depending on what the reader sees, your poem illustrates that.
Beautifully written, Hully.
Such a fine piece, Hully. Excellently expressed and very well structured.
