Playing Games
My mind,
it’s playing games on me.
Will it win?
Well, we shall see.
It cries out ‘Chicken’
all the time
when of sublime
there is no sign.
Every moment
tries my nerve,
makes me desire
to take a swerve.
I’ve got to hold
onto my horses
for the loser - well,
who changes courses.
How about
a different one?
‘Truth or Dare’
could be such fun!
‘Truth’ will show me
painful things
to swallow me up
with what it brings.
The images swing
with mighty blows,
and as I duck
‘Truth’ surely crows.
‘Dare’ screams out
‘You can escape!
You know the steps,
won’t dare to take
the best way forward,
hesitate.
Hurry or I'll
slam the gate.”
‘Hide and Seek’
but not for kids,
this one will lift
so many lids.
For hiding,
it’s so hard to do
when the seeker
dwells in you.
And yet when roles
reversed, become;
the hider is
the powerful one.
Answers run
they flee and hide,
this game’s become
one hellish ride.
My mind,
it loves to play these games,
and with malignancy
it aims
to tear me down
in sheer defeat
for this opponent
I can’t beat.
