Slugging It Out

Nobody loves me,

I’m out on my own,

for unlike a snail

I don’t carry my home.

I’ll seek shelter,

a gap I shall seek

so out of the elements

I can just keep.

They know that I’m here,

they keep out an eye,

they will soon catch me

and I’ll tell you why;

where ever I go,

no matter what time,

I’m leaving a trail

that looks just like slime.

My sanctuary over,

I’m out in the rain

until I find a way

to get inside again.
