My idea of dystopia had always been grey but now I'm not so sure.

The Colour of Dystopia.

The colour of dystopia
To me was always grey
Where all the vibrant colours
Had all just seeped away.

The brilliance of snowy white
Dulled to dirty grey,
The deepest ebony of black
To ash has given sway.

But now I am revising
The colour in my head,
The colour of dystopia
Has now become deep red.

It's surely going to be so harsh
With a spilling of so much blood,
There will be so much slaughter
The ground will surely flood.

The rivers will run red with it
The streams and the lakes too,
A violent gash of crimson
Will colour up the view.

The battles they'll be raging,
The people they will fall,
All ripe for death and glory
When they hear the call.

The world is becoming less humane,
There's an absence of compassion
Where one's care is just oneself,
That really is the fashion.

And things can only get much worse
Unless we all stop and think
The ultra-right will seize the helm
And push it to the brink.

So let me have the greyness back
Don't become misled,
I'd hate to have to just exist
In a bloodied world of red.

Another fine one, Hully, and let's hope you're wrong about this, but, unless we change our ways, I'm afraid you're not, but we're capable of pulling our collective heads out, so we shall see!

I hope I'm wrong too, Mike. I sort of had this idea of bleakness -- I don't know any dystopian fiction that isn't bleak -- but now it's definitely looking more red to me!
