Victory!

Sedate and serious. That was what the morning called for. After all, it was a very grave task – to take the rudder and steer the helm of the country through the stormy waters ahead.

Those weren’t his personal thoughts. He’d get his own way, even if he had to bring out the bulldozer and flatten everything in his path.

His face was serious as he took possession of the keys. His speech was calm, controlled, full of the resolution to ‘get things done’. He’d nod towards those that looked at things differently than he did; he was leading a fractured party after all.

Only at the end would he let his mischievous smile show. The one that spoke of his irresistible boyish charm.

Then he’d turn and head inside, slowly, steadily. Only when the door was closed would he allow himself the victory dance. He’d done it! Landed on the moon, only better! One in the eye to all his doubters! He could dance with glee as much as he wanted now.

Once his victory dance was complete, he could get down to naming those names. All his buddies would have a place of power, a reward for their unwavering support. And those that had not seen fit to back him? Well, there were plenty of seats that were nothing more than a place to sit.

He had important calls to make, meetings to attend. They could wait while he indulged once more with a ‘Way to go, BJ’ salute.
