Jessie-Boo is one of my five cats, the one I use in my profile picture. This is a true poem.

When Jessie-Boo Goes To War

Lately there’s been a new cat around,

and it’s been intruding on my cats ground.

Jessie-Boo is the one most likely to chase

whenever he should catch a sight of his face.

I call him to come back, he pretends he can’t hear,

for he’s on the warpath, he makes that quite clear.

Any pretence that he is my pet cat,

is certainly gone with a skit and a scat.

His legs are much longer, his tail like a brush,

his back is all arched and, soon in the hush

you’ll hear them both swearing, spitting and calling,

which so soon crescendos in to caterwauling.

I’ve tried to chase off this feline intruder

but that only results in a fight that much cruder.

Better to leave them to argue it out,

there might be a hiss along with a clout;

but soon he’ll return from wherever he goes,

seemingly fine but the scratch on his nose.

That’s what they’re like, these feline friends,

having no sense at all of where their garden ends.
