Will You Even Notice?

Will you even notice

That I’m no longer there?

I really rather doubt it

And you sure as hell won’t care.

A part of the furniture

Is what I’ve come to be --

Mostly you don’t recognise

The person that is me.

I’ve kind of got invisible,

Someone you just don’t see,

Nothing more than an encumbrance

Unless you want a referee.

Too engrossed in your own interests,

Too busy by yourself,

I’ve somehow just got left behind

And stuck up on that shelf.

Maybe you will find a gap,

Notice there’s become a lack,

But even if you miss me

I won’t be coming back!
