She lies on the damp green grass

Feeling nothing but the sun kissing her skin

She sees the world as a looking glass

She knows she will never hold him again

He has not perished, No, He is not dead.

But he left her with broken pieces and flowing tears

A cracked heart and a puzzled head

He was the one who battled her fears

He left her for who she thought was her best friend

No warning, no apology, no guilt, no sorrow

Without a single doubt, they walked away with a grin

All she could do was hope for a better tomorrow

But now I think she knows how well she is without them

She thinks about him sometimes, but goes about her day

She lost a love and a friend, but doesn't care what might have been

The sharp pain has subsided, but the scars will never fade.
