My name is Ivan Campershrine and this is my story.

have lived in Ukraine my whole lifeMy mom and dad used to argue a lot, and when I was 5, my mom and dad got in a nasty fight, that ended with my mom losing her hand in a blender. And the worst part is, that not so long time after, my mom left me and my dad for an Indian rock band.

When I was 10 years old, my dad drove me to my grandparents' house and left me there. My grandparents told me that he had a job interview and was coming back in a couple of hours. That was now 6 years ago.

So, as you can tell, I'm not an ordinaire exchange student.

My story as an exchange student started 1 month ago. I had just finished my exams, when I got the news that my grandparents had sold the house and was moving into a retirement home. When I got to the house, my bags with all my stuff was laying on the ground. My grandparents were standing beside them.

“Go to USA and make us proud”. That was the last sentence I ever heard from my grandparents, and well, that is why I am here in Utah as an Exchange student.

Today is the first day as an exchange student in Samgrave Highschool. I woke up with a strange feeling in my stomach, I'm not sure if I were frightened or excited of going to a new school. My host family were already gone, so I packed my things and went to school.

The hallway was full of peopleEverybody where talking gossip and getting their things from their lockers. When I got to my locker, two guys were standing beside itThe guy to the left, wore a blue t-shirt with Backstreet Boys on. He had brown hair, and some worn out pants. The guy on the right, had a red shirt on and some black jeans. He also had brown hairThey both looked like they were bullies, but I thought to myself; that if I wanted some friends, now was a better time than ever.

I never really had any friends. When my parents left me, I had become anti-social and never really talked to anyone. So, trying to get some new friends, is going to be harder for me than it sounds.

I walked over to them; they were talking about a new game called “Dauntless”. I tried to approach them with and awkward “Hi”“What do you want?” the guy on the left responded. I tried to say something, but nothing came out of my mouth. I Had already messed it up.

I'm sorry about my friend, he just had a bad day” said the guy on the right. Those words brought me in a good mood, I finally thought that I could get some friends. But without any explanationthe guy on the left punched me in the head, so hard that I fell backwards into the crowd.

I'm a failure. I can't even get any friends. And now everybody is laughing at me and talking behind my back. Maybe I should just had kept to the people who seem nice.
