This nation,

Was founded

Forged

Created

Built

By the hands of men and women

By the minds of the greatest thinkers

The hardest workers,

Honest people,

Applying themselves.
America to me

Is more than just a place to live

more than just a flag.

We used to be a country that was respected,

We started with conscientious views

We started from scratch

And climbed our way up.

Broke free

Became a precedent for others

We strove to be the best

The big kid on the playground

We went headstrong

To give people the lives they needed

Natural rights and freedoms

That we all earn through

The life we make for ourselves.

Nowadays,

Our vision has strewn.

We no longer have that drive,

That determination,

The willingness to give back

For everything that we have been handed

We have become selfish

Disrespectful

Ignorant

I pray and pray,

That we turn around as a nation

Start from where we came.

Start being,

Americans.
