Mist off the ocean cools my face
As fingers of warmth stroke my face
rays from the sun, sweet kisses
like the ones he used to give me

Thinking of him kills something inside me
My chest begins to hurt
I look again to the sky
Cloud-speckled baby blue
Just like his eyes
Thinking of him kills something inside me

So I said goodbye long ago
I can still smell his cologne on my skin
Every brush of a leaf, a remniscence
And I have a million men here to satisfy me
But all are inadequate
And they all have little meaning

I long for his prescence again
beside me to assure me
in front of me to guard me
behind me to hold me
But I fear

My heart, branded by a few
Left more than a couple scars on me
And he did not do any different
His name is branded next to the others
but his name is
against my heart
