His words are cold
As I lay my fingertips upon the glass
I watch the scene unfold
as if through someone else's eyes
Witnessing her fall, no matter how hard she tries

His stare is penetrating
As I take another step toward the light
And the silence goes deafening
as if my perception fades away
Our consciousness wanes every day

His actions are contradictory
As my shadow grows out of proportion
He promises us an escape from this misery
but we both know that he is lying
And we are both dying

His words scarring my arms
As I step away from all I know
further into the dark abyss; forgetting the psalms
Pushing away from the truth, I choose
Going toward another, with even less to lose
