When our paths first crossed
One look from you told me to stay away
Just an undercurrent; an aura you lost
I told myself that I loathed everything you were
Resentment that sent poison into my veins
Tainted blood, agonized by your drunken slur
I told myself that I hated your very esscence
Although I knew full well that it was an illusion-
A ploy to make my love for you lessen
For we could never be together, an angel with a demon
though you invaded my thoughts and haunted my dreams
That I hide fearfully in
The lamb could not fall for the lion; prey cannot love predator
I am the innocent type fallen for the edgy
Flaws are most prominent next to qualities- you can be better
You wear a mask; so real that I wouldn't know otherwise
Unless I hadn't wanted to love you
And it is thenI realize why I love you, after all these tries
