Modesty is great, it just kind of holds you back.

I'm Not One for Modesty

I have many bad points in my personality. Arrogance is not one of them.
I'm just not a modest person.
I'd like to think I have a lot of self-confidence. But not so much that I'm a insanely arrogant that I practically ask to be punched in the nose, but when I do make a cocky remark, everyone is very much aware that I am only half joking and it makes them laugh. Which is the exact response that I aim for.
I think modesty is a great, its reveals one's humble attitude. However, personally, I think that being modest can hold a person back from showing their true personality.

I was looking up the word "Modest" in the (Internet) dictionary, and ultimately it came out as "being shy". Of course, I thought that was a rather vague definition, so I thought of other words that could best describe modesty. I (searched up) took out my (Internet) thesaurus.
Synonyms of Modest: Bashful, chaste, coy, demure, diffident, discreet, humble, meek, moderate, nice, proper, prudent, quiet, reserve, resign, self-conscious.
And I thought to myself, good Lord its nothing but a wall that keeps people from seeing the real you. For me, when with my closest friends, I intend to not have a wall in the way. When getting to know new friends, I intend to break the shy wall they hold against me. I want them to be comfortable around me, and be themselves around me without having to be obligated to being polite, it may not be easy, but I’d like it to happen and 99% of the time it does.

Why be bashful when you receive a compliment? Accept it. Of course what I try to do, so as to not look like a conceited fool, is jokingly accept the compliment with an overly egotistical comment that will be sure to make people laugh.
"I think you're pretty"
"So does your mum"
Compliment accepted with a few “LOL’s”.

Modesty is great, as long as it's sincere. No one needs fake modesty, everyone can tell the difference between sincere modesty and fake modesty, if you can't, then I envy your naivety. No need to deny a compliment when people know full well that you agree with them. There is nothing wrong with accepting it with a smile, its honest. For me, honesty is everything.

"I think you're pretty"
"Naw, you're just saying that, you're way prettier *Not bitch, you fugly*"

FAKE.
