They felt heavy and rigid...I hold my breath and look into the distance, where the heat haze is lazily playing with the shapes of dusty humvees, huts and moving silhouettes.
I don't want to see who you are, don't want to know what happened. 
Grabbing the leg at the ankle, I lift and am struck with how familiar the rounded bone and the ligaments feel; I hesitate, waiting to feel movement down by my hands, as if in training-- little wiggle here and there making the carrier's job easier.
