I recall years back when I was a young girl my mother and my step-father loved together with two other roommates in a beautiful house in Plainfield. I remember how he pushed me on the swings in the glowing morning light and we played fetch with my dog Bella. My step-father came into my life at a young age and I always called him Papa even though I knew he wasn't really. I adored him so much. He was my daddy and I loved him. I remember the summer nights where we had bon fires and roasted marshmellows then played tag in the playground behind the house he built for me. We had Nerf wars in the trees and pretended to be soliders. We layed in the grass together and stared up at the sky looking at the clouds and talking about life, dreams, and hopes for the future. He was a great young man, but young indeed. He tucked me in bed as he always did at night, but I woke up at exactly 1:30 am (I remember this day like it was yesterday) And I heard him yelling at our roommate. I walked out of my room holding my stuffed animal and in my footie pajamas \"Papa you're being too loud...I can't sleep.\" I said in a whiney tone. He apologized and sent me off to my room. Instead of doing as I was told I hid behind the shelf area and eavesdropped. They argued about some stupid stuff then our roomate swung at him, and my dad said he was leaving us and calling the cops. I ran to find my mother in hopes she could stop him in time. I ran around the house pleading for her soon finding her in the garage with our other roommate. She looked upset and she was smoking a cigarette. I swung the door open, \"Mommy! Papa is calling the cops!\"She put out her cigarette and ran to find him. Our roommate sent me to my room. I heard yelling and suddenly the cops arrived. I saw red and blue flashes outside my window, I gripped my Pikachu stuffy and cried. Later my Papa left us our roomates fought going their seperate ways leaving my mom and me. She had to send me to live with my grandma for a while. One of our roommates was drunk and let my dog out to go to the bathroom then forgot about her. She chased a deer into the street and got hit by a car. I found out over the phone on Christmas Eve...I still wonder how my perfect life went to shit so fast...
