Who is this person that I see?

certainly this person is not me.

Scared and ashamed,

  no longer the same.

Separated from all,

  inside these four walls.

Protected within,

  from hurt caused by him.

Who is this I speak of?

  The man that I love.

My dreams he does haunt,

  he lingers and taunts.

His purpose unclear,

  after so many years.

The impression he made,

  my heart he betrayed.

The dreams he inspired,

  from our passion; desires.

False hope he creates,

  from the illusion he makes.

His touch lights a fire,

  it's him I admire.

No other compares,

  I'm lured to his lair.

My soul he did gain,

  my heart he maimed.

Till nothing was left,

but a shell with a breath.

Who is this person I see?

it's what he left of me...
