I wrote this a couple of months ago as part of a portfolio for college. It was somewhat inspired by A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen. Thank you, if you read it :)

Let's build the house of you and me
We'll start with the foundation
Let's make sure it's strong and sturdy
Firmly cemented in its location

Then we'll begin to construct the walls
Which you'll use to keep me a prisoner;
The feeling of being confined by you
Will soon grow to be familiar

Our home will be vast, with plenty of space
So you can keep me at a distance
Only in the night we'll come together,
strain to feign a happy existence

What colours would you like the walls to be?
White, just like your lies?
Maybe black to match your heart or
Green for your jealous eyes?

You can choose how the garden looks too
And how it appears to the visitors
Make it look beautiful so they don't
Notice the rotted, impaired interiors.
