He sat alone by a window, soaking in the streaming sun and pondering what to do now? The panoply of his life’s experiences and accomplishments, though respected by those who were said to be important, shone too harshly for the man to look at himself. Watery eyes blur into the tea before him, more naturally than the pieces ever seemed able to fit together, and he gratefully observes no angles. Round, smooth cup offering life, it reminds him of the rhythm and cycles. Suddenly fascinated eyes are staring back at the man, and his universe is multiplied. By the time the man looks up, the curious party is being hoisted away, “is it time to go home daddy?”; but she meets the man’s eye from the perch of her dad’s shoulder. A beaming reply to his kind smile, and the man’s world deliquesces into shimmer and colors of the most natural grace.
