You look at me
What do you see?
The ‘goth’ girl
The one we pick on
Because she’s different
-
But first impressions
Aren’t always right
What you don’t see
Is locked up inside
I never let it out
Unless I’m alone
That way no one can see
That my heart will always roam
Looking for love
Seeking a soul
Someone who will care
Someone who won’t stare
Or bring me down
Confuse me in a crowd
-
you don’t get it?
I’m not surprised.
You're so busy
Looking for people to despise
That you never learn.
-
But first impressions
Aren’t always right
What you don’t see
Is locked up inside
I never let it out
Unless I’m alone
That way no one can see
That my heart will always roam
Looking for love
Seeking a soul
Someone who will care
Someone who won’t stare
Or bring me down
Confuse me in a crowd
-
If I tell you this
You’ll probably just laugh
Laugh in my face
And tell me that
I’m going mad
-
But first impressions
Aren’t always right
What you don’t see
Is locked up inside
I never let it out
Unless I’m alone
That way no one can see
That my heart will always roam
Looking for love
Seeking a soul
Someone who will care
Someone who won’t stare
Or bring me down
Confuse me in a crowd
-
No, you’ll never see
The real, true me.
One day I will set myself free
But for now
I am hidden
Because first impressions
Aren’t always right.
