Despondent.
_
What do you do?
Your failure's is all you see
The night sinks in to your fragile bones
You've died before you've even breathed
_
Blood runs dry deep inside
There's nothing left to keep you alive
Yet a smile is fastened to your face
Truths are hidden, you live by lies
_
Pain amplifies harsher and stronger
Love becomes feeble and weak
Demons haunt your lonely nights
Your guardian angel can no longer fight
_
The fire of love dies in ache
Leaving in its wake ashes of hate
Embers of pain freeze your core
And do nothing to melt the ice in your soul
_
With labored breath's you breathe on
In dying hope of a dawn to come
Lying in a dark hollow, six feet deep
Hoping this breath is your last to keep
_
What do you do?
Rise up, leave your failures behind
Let the past go; your heart will beat again inside
Seek the light, its never too far away
_
Even the darkest nights have stars that shine
Caterpillars eventually turn to butterflies
One candle is all you need
It'll get you through to daylight
_
A smile will brighten those empty eyes
You'll learn to love this brief life
For you have found one reason to live
Against those many more to die tonight

I love the volta in this poem! It's such an amazing turn. From hopeless to seeking hope, isn't that what each human faces at one point or another? I love it! Keep writing:)

Fri, March 16th, 2012 1:42pmReally interesting - floating between hope and despair, flitting from one to the other, never quite settling on either. At least that's how my prozac-free brain receives it. Bravo.
Fri, March 30th, 2012 10:30pmAn interesting dramatic flip of the switch between feeling dead and feeling alive again. Good use of imagery, this is the kind of poetry I like.

Sun, August 26th, 2012 7:35pmThis is very dynamic, it's brilliant how you centered the poem around despair and frustration. The emotion behind it leaves me speechless, this is very interesting and it is very well written, This is my favorite out of your poems because it's not really centered around love, but the others are good as well, Well done =)

Sat, October 13th, 2012 2:53pmWow...this was amazing. Your words dance across the page, an artist's paintbrush coloring the canvas of my mind. Beautiful and deep. The heart sighs, content, as the tide swirls about her in her silent reprieve.
