Jaiden sat silently on his roof. His white hair whipped around his face and stuck to his moist lips. His crystal eyes watched the sun begin to fall behind the rooftops. He did this every night. He enjoyed the slight burn he felt from the last rays of the day. It didnt harm him like it did his older kin but it still made him uneasy. His gums pulsed lightly and his teeth poked at the back of his lips. He flicked his tongue against the points of his fangs. How long had it been since he quenched his thirst? He couldn't remember, it had been so long. He wanted to feel the fountain of red pour down his throat. He needed to feel it. His eyes scanned the passing bodies of warmth. Their cheeks pink with blood as they pass under his roof. His bottom lip became sore as he bit into it.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aliana walked along the sidewalk, the light of the moon gleaming on the dirty puddles of the street from last night's rain. She pulled the coat tighter around her, clutching her messenger bag strap. People's voices littered the air around her as she pushed past people. All she wanted to do was get home, school was too long today. She decided to take a shortcut through the back roads, where no one usually ventured. It was easier this way. She continued to walk down the road, kicking up dirt behind her as the moon glistened on the small puddles alongside the road. Crickets chirped and animals all around make noises, and she clutched her bag tighter. She really wished she didn't have to walk home alone, better yet be alone right now. She took a book out of her bag and looked at it, trying to distract herself as she walked, but felt something was not right. A rustle made her stop dead in her tracks before a low rumble of thunder could be heard. She looked up and saw the storm clouds forming and groaned. 'Please just wait until I get home to rain!' She thought, lifting the hood of her jacket as cold raindrops littered the sky and fell.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rain drops speckled Jaidens hair and streaked his cheeks. The sunset was now obscured by clouds and the day was over. Silently cursing himself he stood. Just a little while longer. He could last. He never wanted to be the cliche vampire. He wanted to be different. Water splashed beneath his feet as he walked along the rooftops. The air was clean here. It didnt reek of human blood like the busy streets and he could handle it. Jaidens soft blue eyes scanned the clouds, looking for a sign that the rain would let up. A flash of fur caught his eye. A kitten had pressed itself against a chimney wall at an attempt to keep dry. It made Jaiden smile softly. He reached out his hand to touch the cat but it wasnt liking the attention and moved away, edging closer to the ledge. worry bloomed in Jaidens chest and he reached out farther. Again the cat moved back. Its paws touched the gutter. Jaiden pushed himself next to the cat and grabbed it by its scruff before it leapt down the four story building. A sigh of relief escaped his lips. just then a loud cracking noise filled the air. The gutter was giving way. Jaiden thought fast and tossed the kitten onto the tiles before he fell off the side of the roof. His feet touched down with a light thud. He was fine. Looking up he saw the kitten had done well too. But he wasnt in the clear. He had landed in front of a frightened mortal girl.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Alaina stared at the man in front of her, those striking blue eyes staring back into her sea green ones, hand frozen stiff on her messenger bag and her hood slipping from her head, letting her loose curled brown hair fall around her shoulders. Did this man really just fall from 4 stories, not even a hint of pain or hurt in him at all? She moved her mouth up and down, though no words came out and took a step back, tripping and catching herself. She looked back up to see him standing there like a statue, not moving, obviously not expecting her to be there. Terror flooded her, she wasn't sure what she should do. Her apartment was only a few blocks away, she knew she could sprint at least that far. She stood, her jeans littered with mud and dirt from the city and took a step forward, deciding how she would get past this man. She looked up at the sky, the moon illuminating the raindrops that were falling much more rapidly now, and much harder. She could feel her hair growing heavier from the water, along with her clothes and wondered with all the weight on top of her bag if she could make it to her apartment. She took a deep breath and took another step forward, sprinting past him, not daring to look back. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------She was beautiful. He couldnt deny that. But she just saw him survive a fall where as any normal person would have landed as a pancake. He didnt know what to do. Her eyes wouldnt leave his and he couldnt look away. Like an idiot he just stood there. The rain continued to fall on both of them as they stood there in silence. He watched her mouth move in shock but neither of them made a sound. All he wanted to do is reach out, touch her brown locks of hair and tell her that he wouldnt hurt her. But she ran. She ran past him and the scent flowing off her was so powerful. He couldnt help it. He spun and crouched. She continued to run and the animal inside him swelled with passion. Tears streamed down his face as his feet left the wet pavement. He slid in front of her and snarled. His fangs at their full capacity glinted as the moon shone through the clouds. His finger were curled like the animal he was and his pupils were mere slits. He tried shaking it off but it just wasnt stopping tonight. The vein on her neck pulsed a vibrant blue and his eyes watched it masterfully. He knew where his fangs would go. It was all the same. His jaw snapped open and his feet moved. Blood Spewed everywhere. As it hit the floor is fizzled and evaporated. Vampire blood. Blood for the time in the body but once it escapes a vampire it returns to the state it would be in. If he had killed a few days earlier the blood would go to that state. But it had been so long on the blood was so old that it just vanished. Jaiden had bitten his arm. He didnt want to harm this girl. \"Run.\" he garbled through his skin. He hoped she heard him.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------She took a step back, ready to run as fast as she could and as far away as she could, but something tugged at her to stay. She looked at those eyes, small gleams of blue still showed brightly through the slits. She hesitated before pulling a hoodie out of her bag and placing it over his back and whispering \"Please...you have lost a lot of blood. I won't hurt you.\" She looked back at him for a response, ready to run if need be. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Confusion crossed his face. She needed to run. Did she not notice what he was? Did she not see what kind of danger he could put her in? She must have been insane. That had to be it. The cloth she had put on his back seeped with her scent in it drove him insane. His nostrils flared and he groaned. His knees gave way and he swayed to one side. It had been so long. His body must have been confused. Lasting longer then 5 months without blood then tasting not only vampire blood but his own? It was too much. He pressed his back against the stone wall and slid down. His shirt snagged on a loose nail and tore his shirt, leaving his heaving chest open. He couldnt help it anymore. Looking up at the girl he sighed one more time then rested. The time of sleep had come for him.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Blood now ran down his chest, arms and face. She knew she had to get him to a hospital, before he lost too much blood. She lifted him, but failed and nearly fell on top of him. Once again she tried and did succeed in falling on top of him. She looked at his face, those soft hard features, so beautiful and delicate. She touched his cheek, his skin was cold. The rain fell harder, sheets now covering the sky around them. She looked to her left. She was only at least a block from her apartment. She stood and with all her strength, lifted him onto her back and half dragged him across the street and up the stairs into her apartment. She laid him back against the wall and fumbled with her key in the lock before dragging him in. She placed a blanket on the couch and pulled him up so he could lay on it. She rushed into her bathroom for alcohol to clean the wounds and bandages. She was now glad her best friend had made her take those red cross classes. She dabbed his arm with alcohol and cotton balls, watching the blood clot slightly and heaved a sigh of relief. She cleaned the wound and bandaged him up as best she could. She went into the kitchen, filling a glass with water and walked back to him, kneeling and opening his mouth to tilt the glass so he could drink. She stared at his face...he was so beautiful....-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------'warm.....why is it so warm?' he stirred in his sleep. 'i like it here. its soft....' his thigh itches lightly and he moved his hand to scratch it.'why is it warm?' his eyes fluttered open. Thanks to his vampiric senses his eyes focused immediately. even so he didnt know where he was. And he didnt like that. He looked down at his body and saw the bandages. 'did i do this...?' he was confused. He didnt need them, he could heal in seconds, so why did he use them? He rubbed his eyes and then it hit him. The smell. Her smell. Everywhere. she was close. and it worried him.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------She sat on her bed, books strewn across the blue covers, notebooks and papers strewn on top. She bit the end of her pencil and furrowed her brow at a paragraph in her book. She sighed and looked at her doorway, seeing the feet of the stranger on her couch and sighed. He was distracting her, and she hated it. She closed her eyes and she could see them...that beautiful radiant blue in his eyes....her eyes flew open and sighed again. She was never going to get her homework done. She stood, wearing a tank top and shorts, her hair falling halfway down her back and decided to check on the man she had saved. She wondered what his name was. She took a step into the hall and made her way back to the living room.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------He heard her walking. Her feet slowly picking up pace as she headed towards... he listened....she was heading towards him! His mind reeled. He sat up and looked over to where the sound was coming from. He was on a couch. He now noticed that. He sat on the back of it and searched the room. 'what do i do?' he thought. He heard her intake of breath as she saw him and it surprised him. She walks fast. He spun his head to face her and his ass slipped off the fabric. Tumbling backwards he fell into a mass of clothes and shoes and lost sight of all things clean. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------She laughed and walked over to him, helping him out of the mess of her dirty laundry that she had yet to clean. She smiled, her eyes lighting up and helped him up. She picked a sock out of his hair and watched him stand up. She could not believe how tall he was, and those locks. They didn't seem a real color. \"I'm Aliana. Uhm...it's nice to meet you. I tried to bandage you as best I could.\" She stopped, not sure what else to say. She looked to the side and then glanced hesitantly back at him. His eyes were that brilliant blue again.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------He looked at his arm and unraveled the fabric. He lifted it to show her that he had healed. A small smile played on his lips. He cleared his throat. His voice sounded like wind chimes to the human ears \"thank you for the help. But ill be fine.\" His Irish accent wove through his words. Jaiden set the fabric down on the couch and sidestepped away from the girl. She had this effect on him and he was worried about that. The elders of his coven had told him of tales where vampires had fallen in love with mortals and it hadnt ended well. In mere seconds Jaiden was in the door way of her home, walking into the rain.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Alaina tried to keep her eyes open and listened to the sound of his voice dancing through her ears. He was from somewhere else, and she couldn't quite place that accent. She couldnt believe he has healed like that! He surely wasn't human, she knew he wasn't. She watched him walk away and felt something different from him she had never felt before. She watched him walk out her doorway, and in seconds ran after him.
