His fists once battered

Fellow boxers

As each tried to knock

The other out

Or damage kidneys

And lungs beyond

Repair and send

Him crashing

To the ground

But sadly now

Without a bout

She’s the one

On whom

He takes it out

Until she cannot scream

No more

Cannot breathe

Cannot feel

Cannot be

No more

And without

A referee

Is down

And out.
