Take my hand and run, my son
Take my hand and run
A Jew in a City of fear, my son
Should never walk alone.

We’ll join your Mother and sister my son
At the castle by the Ouse
And there we’ll stay ‘til we die, my son
For a Jew can only lose.

I hear footsteps closing behind us
Quickly into the church
Hide yourself in the crypt, my son
And pray that they won’t search.

I hear them, be brave my son,
What is it why do you cry?
The soldiers are almost here
Hush now or we’ll surely die.

What have you found on the floor my son?
What have you found on the floor?
Two bodies covered in blood
Of those who hid before.

Take my hand, be brave my son
Don’t look upon the floor
I hear the soldiers outside,
See, they’re opening the door;

At least we shall die together, my son
A Jewish family of four,
You and I together my son
No, don’t look upon the floor.
