Welcome

To my wood

I have many guests

Most of whom

Stay with me

Unwillingly

Walk with us

Through the tall

Short,

Broad leaves and

Evergreens

The dead leaves

Leave behind

A strange

Pungent smell

Of death and

Rotting fibre

Disguising

Other rotting

Less acceptable

The undergrowth houses

Tiny forms of life

Insects

Mice

Other larger fare

Feed on them

The light barely

Filters down

So we live in damp

Darkness

I and my children

Join us on a moonlit

Night when we play

To the fullness

Of Luna

As yet another child

Joins our family

Their names are many

I know them all

When they died

And how

I killed them.
