I'm musing on my age and all the stages I've been through, and all the things that seemed important to me at those times.

We grow up

And forget the things we loved

When we were young:

Fuzzy blankets,

Mother’s skin against our baby cheeks

We were wild once,

Finding new things to fill

The holes that used to be full

Of all the old things:

Jewelry, idols, new religions.

As we mature

And settle into ourselves,

We still look for things,

Forgetting all the other things

With which we have filled up our lives

As we grow old

We sit and wonder,

Pondering, all

The forgotten things

We can no longer remember.
