“I’m sorry I let you down” he gasped for air
“I know this fight didn’t seem all too fair
But I gave it my all, my best fight I could
And now it’s time I go, as I feel I should”
She held his hand and was there as he passed
He looked up and smiled, the sighed his last
“God rest your soul” She whispered with a tear
“I had not known you for long, but I will always be here”
She got up from the chair and walked away
Knowing she had done good on a dying mans day
He had no family or friends to be there
She being his nurse, felt obligated to care
Though she felt it was her job, it slowly became more
He was a patient, then a friend she never had before
On the day of his passing, she felt a pain in her heart
More then a man had died, but a friend she never had from the start
