Heartbreaking Lies

“A-Are you okay? Do you have any injuries?! Oh my god, what just happened back there?!?!” I slowly managed to remark as I tried to gasp for air. It all started in Paris, from backstabbing friends to heartbreaking lies. As soon as dawn started to approach, one lie would lead to another leaving the final revealing plot. Let me start from the beginning when it all began.

Kathy and I were always the best of friends. Making new friends is a goal you should aim for right? However, everything was different, especially in this situation. Sometimes a lesson in life is that you can't always trust everybody. Joanne and Erica, what could be more expected of them? They were just backstabbing liars, always looking for mischief.

One evening, we all went out for a night out looking at the shining stars all in Paris; also known as the City of Love. Sooner rather than later, Kathy and I, by the looks of suspicion, figured out that something mysterious was going on. As soon as Erica and Joanne excused themselves, there was going to be quite the chaotic commotion. Kathy and I started to lurk around the corner to see what was going on, but then, just out of the blue police officers came out and were yelling, “Arrest them!” “W-W-What was going on?!” I suddenly panicked and shouted at Kathy, “J-Just run, run for it!! Run as fast as you can away from here!” However, before I started dash away, through the corner of my eye, I saw Erica and Joanne snickering with an evil grin, as I could tell from their smiles. I started to wonder, “Did they do this?!” There was no time to think though, so I blitzed away into the darkness of the evening. Hours passed until the foreshadowing clouds covered the moon until the sky itself was blinded, including me...

I wandered into the night, observing my surroundings carefully. Slowly, I started to take a step back.“Aahhh!” I tried to cover my mouth as I shrieked. Relieved that it was only my friend, I muttered to myself, “Thank god.” I remarked to Kathy whether or not she was okay, if they were any injuries, and I inquired her about what happened back there. This...was only going to be the beginning though. Kathy and I didn't really know what was going to happen next, not one clue. We grasped each others hands and wandered into the night, searching rapidly for shelter. However, luckily I spotted a hotel nearby. I immediately searched through my pocket and found some change. Kathy and I approached the hotel quicker than we had imagined, and soon ordered a room for the night. As soon as we had entered gleaming lights started to shine, blinding my eyes. “Whoa,” I told Kathy. I-It was just so elegant. Trust me, if you had seen the cost of the rooms, you wouldn't have been as surprised. Afterwards, Kathy and I paid for one night; and one night only. I slowly raised my head to gaze around the room. It seemed a bit of a mystery to realize how we could manage to pay for this lovely suite though. I started to yawn though, so I told Kathy politely that it was time to sleep, well you know, since is was like 12:00 A.M. I jumped onto the bed, slowly closing my eyes, as darkness started to surround me....

The next morning, Kathy and I received a loud banging on the door that ruined my deep sleep. I got up, and opened the door. I saw a young boy standing there and asked him, “Um, why are you here?” The young boy just replied back, “I saw some strange people downstairs in the lobby discussing something about your room. I think they might be coming up soon any moment now.” “Are you serious?!” I told myself. I heard footsteps coming up the hall approaching quickly, so I told the young boy, “Thanks for the warning, but you better get going now.” I jolted Kathy awake, and told her about the depressing news. Kathy in response told me to gather my belongings as she gathered hers, and we would escape as fast as we could. As soon as we were ready, we ran down the hall and approached the stairs, running out of the building as fast as we could. As we were rapidly running away, I accidentally bumped into another woman. “Whoa,” I whispered to Kathy. She had an exquisite and formal gown, silver earrings, and all as if she had just gotten back from a shopping spree. I politely asked for her name and she responded, “Thanks for asking politely, and it's Ellen. Are you young girls in trouble? Why, I wouldn't mind helping at all.” “Actually, the police are after us because of our ex-friends, and we would just really like to hitch a ride out of Paris, you know before the police catch us,” I replied. Ellen nodded because she understood and then said, “I will help you, but you'll have to get to the Eiffel Tower tonight, I'll have a helicopter there waiting for you to take you to Italy.” “Thank you very much, we'll be there,” we both replied. Later that night, we blitzed there as fast as we could, knowing that one minute of stopping could get us arrested and thrown in jail. “Wait a minute,” I told Kathy. I backed up spotting the young boy. “I'm sure we can spare some time, I mean after all, I don't think they've caught up to us yet.” I told Kathy. Kathy gave me a slight nod, but I don't think she was assured by my relieving words. The young boy blitzed towards me telling me that his name was Adam and inquired if I was safe yet. I replied, “Well, we bumped into a woman named Ellen, and she said she would give us a helicopter ride at the top of the Eiffel Tower.” Adam replied, “Aah, Ellen, huh? She's a kind-hearted woman, she's basically out there to help anyone when you need it.” Seeing Kathy's worried look by the expression on her face I whispered to Adam, “Well, we better get going, I will always be grateful of your help. Oh, and also, if you ever see Ellen around, you know wandering around Paris, be sure to give her my thanks. Adam replied, “I'll be sure too, and you are welcome!” Kathy and I raced each other to the top of the Eiffel Tower. “There it is,” I muttered under my breath. I gazed down at the view of Paris, dreaming as if I was in my own little world.. Time started to tick, striking as soon as it was 10:00 P.M. “Wow, time passed by so quickly,” I remarked to Kathy. Kathy replied, “I agree, so shouldn't we be going now? Our ride to Italy is right there, so why not take it right now?” “Yeah, you're right,” I said. As I started to approach the helicopter though, I spotted something in the near distance that sure surprised me. I-It was them.. I ran over to Kathy and told her the news.

She told me, “We better hurry, unless you want to stay here and get your entire life ruined forever.” I agreed and said, “Let's go! I'm ready for my new life.” I panted heavily as I raced for my future, with no regrets. I wasn't going to stop...never. Before, I could realize it, Kathy and I were on the journey of our lives, to Italy. Finally, the life we both deserve while...starting over.
