The Western Vindicator Part 3 of 3

John and the men who still would every once and while hit him with a question had locked themselves into the Saloon's basement, they could hear it outside scraping its claws on the outside they heard glass breaking upstairs they know it was trying to find a way in. "Now this thing has tracked me down across this great state, we've tussled a few times but this time I have to say the asshole has outsmarted me a bit. Now yes my power will weaken him but we will need a little bit of help on y'all's part, now is there any access to the roof?" Hank raises his hand in remembering the small hatch he put on the roof so he could scare off birds from nesting and perching on there. "Yes there's a small hatch up there its pretty easy to get to but its pouring outside why would you want to go up there?" John once again smirks and scoffs. "Not me...you and Sheriff Mcgaffey, take these," john roots around in his back jacket pockets he pulls out two bandanas and a few matches and then he proceeds to grab the liquor bottle from Jason. "Put the bananas in these light ‘em and I assume you boys know what happens after that." Mcgaffey and Hank both nod, so you boys head up there and look for my signal.

Jason and the others escort Hank and Mcgaffey up to the top steps of the saloon making sure to stay out of the sight of the beast surely lurking outside. Meanwhile, John pointed his arm to the door that had been barricaded and in one motion destroyed the chairs and tables that once kept him from the darkness outside. John quickly turned the corner to see the beast chomping down on a horse that was already lifeless from having its insides jerked outwards by the beast. John whistles loudly causing the men on the roof to look down at him then return to a crouch, the beast locked eyes with John it let out a loud scream the windows on every house and store shattered due to the sheer power of the screech.

It slowly began its paces toward John, John looked up towards the roof and tipped his cap to Mcgaffey and Hank who had their bottles nearly ready. John stands his ground out in the middle of the muddy street rain pouring down making his clothes heavy. "BOYS YOU READY?" John shouts to Mcgaffey and Hank. "Uh, John we got a problem!" Hank replies, John's heart sinks. John fires a blast at the beast's chest the beast stumbles back but keeps going shaking it off like it's nothing. Four more shots land flush but nothing, the beast is so close the ground beneath John's feet beings to shake. The beast in a swipe grabs John up he knows this may be the end.

The beast brings him up to his eyes and let's out a loud roar, spit and horse remains go all over John. As the beast widens his mouth preparing to finish John off he brings him ever closer to his face that when John sees his opportunity and takes it, John reaches for the Beast's eye and scrapes it the beast screams John swipes again and get a big chunk of its eye. It releases John from its grip John hurtles toward the ground his landing is softened by the muddy ground. The beast has one hand over its eye and begins to swing with its other hand knocking over store fronts and columns used to hold up the stores.

John quickly looks around and sees a piece of shattered wood from when the beast crashed into the saloon front, he scrambles to get over then he scoops up the wooden steak and then breaks in two. He climbs up on top of the awning of a store with the two steaks sharp as knives he gets up above the beast and then collects himself to say "He ugly look over here!" The beast looks up and with a loud cry John jumps from the building and stabs the beast in the eyes with each individual steak, he takes it to the ground then begins to push them deeper and deeper until the beast has been conquered and in the cold rain he lays still. Then without any type of notice the monster is pulled into the ground as if it was pulled back to the depths of hell from where it came.

John then whistles loudly his horse comes running out of the dark the rain suddenly stops, the men all rush out only to see the hole to the underworld close shut. "I wish you, fellas, well, but I must be going now." John hops onto his horse and rides off into the darkness, without any of the men speaking anything. Before he can get out of earshot Sheriff Mcgaffey yells out "What the hell are we gonna tell them happened here?" John with his back turned to the men shouts "Whatever you tell them it ain't like they're gonna exactly believe you, are they?" None of the men had a rebuttal to what John had said knowing it to be very true. And just like that John was gone…..like dust in the wind.
