I hear them whisper
Hushed and quiet tones
Of how they don't approve
And the fury stains the air

I just take a moment
To clear my cluttered brain
And belt out my refrain
It doesn't mean a thing
When your heart tells you
Otherwise

I'm done.
I've given up on playing
The games they love to fix
To their advantage
Who cares
They only whisper because
They know their words are wrong
They can't even admit to themselves
That they are spoken
