Welsh is a wonderful language.
Yet certain people (evil glare) are saying its dying. Not many people in Wales actually speak Welsh. Even though most of Wales is the the south, and they're more English than Welsh. But even in North Wales, in my mothers residing county of Gwynedd, for instance, an average of 62.5% or more of the population speak the language. Don't see the point in .5%, but thats quite a lot. Whereas, in the neighbouring county of Conwy, only 12.5-25% speak Welsh (.5 AGAIN, wtf??). Thats a pretty big change for neighbouring counties.
My mother is Welsh, and my father is Scottish...I think. And I was raised speaking very little Welsh. I am starting at the time of writing (bit of a New Year thing ;D) to learn Welsh, because this language is good fun and generally enjoyable! The Welsh language should be kept alive. But to do that, you need more children to be learning Welsh, and maybe speaking it around the household. Or, if you want to bamboozle certain people, yell at them in Welsh! Funny. :D
Jonathon Ross (or Woss for those of you who want to take the piss) asked one of his Welsh listeners to say something in Welsh. She replied that she couldn't speak the language. "Ah, well. The language is dying anyway." grr...
So please, at the risk of sounding like a charity advert, adopt the Welsh language today. =3
