She was consumed by him. He controlled all her thoughts and feelings, and she was helpless to stop it. He was her brother’s friend, and she knew him all her life. She treated him like a brother and a friend. But one day he started to visit her every time he was near. Then he started texting her every day just to see how her day went. She was slowly swept into a crush that seemed to consume her daily thoughts. She couldn’t help the feelings the took over her whole being. He was the first one who truly showed her any attention, and she soaked it up like a little girl with her first crush. Every day she looked forward to talking to him, and until she did she would day-dream about their conversations. She was giddy with the prospect of having her first true boyfriend. But then something happened. One day he didn’t talk to her. He didn’t text her and she just thought maybe he was busy. And he was busy, he had a job and had to work late. It was at that point that she knew that she was becoming obsessed with him. That thought wouldn’t have disturbed her so much if they were actually dating but he still hadn’t asked her out. She was just a little girl giddy about her crush. So she started telling herself to fall back some and not become so to attuned to him. And it worked until he worked late again and he didn’t talk to her until late into the night. That was ok because she convinced herself he still liked her. But then one day, he actually stopped talking to her and he didn’t work that day. She thought maybe he just forgot or it was a long day and didn’t want to talk. That was fine with her. Then when he would visit her brother, he didn’t stop to talk to her. Eventually, over time he just stopped talking to her altogether. She was terribly sadden by the thought that he probably only saw her as a little sister the whole time. Then she became angry because it was all his fault he made her feel this way. If only he just left her only alone then she wouldn’t be stuck with feelings he didn’t reciprocate. It was his fault. She tried to counsel herself that she had crushes before and she was able to get over them. But this one was different. He was different. Deep down she knew that he wasn’t at fault. In her heart, she knew that she was fault. She should have known better that he wouldn’t have thought of her as anything but as a sister. It was her fault. She had to deal with the anger and sadness by herself.
